The Home Place

About this property

In real estate, we see land in all forms, but it's rare to step onto a property as impressive as The Home Place . Whether you're looking for an investment-grade farm, a homestead, or a recreational retreat, this property brings together a combination of features that's difficult to find in one place. From the moment you arrive, you can see the care and dedication the landowners have put into transforming what was once primarily a row crop farm into a beautiful property the entire family can enjoy. Entering from Senteny Road, you're welcomed by a beautiful, stocked pond. An older farmhouse and several outbuildings sit farther back on the property, providing excellent space for equipment storage, a repair shop, and other farm uses. For hunting enthusiasts, this area has a deep history rooted in waterfowl. Just two miles south of the farm is Claypools Reservoir, made famous by a 1956 photograph capturing an estimated 300,000 ducks in a single frame. It's an area that waterfowl have returned to year after year for generations. The farm features six duck pits, providing fresh hunting locations and multiple options for different wind directions. There's even a "Grandpa Pit" built into one of the roadways, allowing you to drive right up to the blind and hunt without having to make a long walk across the field. The waterfowl rights are currently leased to a local club under a multi-year agreement, and the club has experienced great success, particularly with specklebelly goose hunting. From an investment standpoint, the farm is equally impressive. A long-term tenant is in place with a strong yield history and a comprehensive fertility program designed to keep the irrigated crops healthy and productive. The farm features five irrigation wells, more than a mile of irrigation pipeline with multiple risers, and a surface-water relift system along the western parcel. The irrigation infrastructure provides flexibility and efficiency throughout the farm. With both diesel-powered and three-phase electric options available on-site, multiple wells can be utilized through the pipeline system to move water where it's needed and irrigate the farm in a timely manner. Depending on your needs, the property can be purchased with or without the homestead. If The Home Place sounds like the kind of farm you've been looking for, I'd be glad to show you around and let you experience the property for yourself.
